Can such a thing as a "PopCult community" exist? I'm probably getting way ahead of myself, but after receiving scads of supportive e-mails and getting written up by weblogs in Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, and the U.S. of A., I wonder if we all couldn't get along. Many of us seem to have similar interests, and might even share the same tastes in pop culture. Seeing as how we're vastly outnumbered by readers of People and watchers of FOX network reality shows, we really ought to stick together. Might we even like each other if we got the chance?

In the interests of furthering international and interpersonal communication (as well as hopefully developing free daily content), I'm launching The PopCult League of Discerning Readers. Oh, some might just call it a "discussion board," but I prefer to see it as a place where we might actually trade information or opinions on pop culture. I've set up a few wide-ranging forums (using XMB's software) that are basically divided along the lines of: stuff you like, stuff you dislike, and recent events. (Of course, I came up with overly clever names for each forum.)

I fervently believe that PopCult readers are far more fascinating, intelligent, witty, opinionated, compassionate, and wickedly sarcastic than the average webzine reader. So why not get to know each other? Tell us about your most recent fixations, outrages, pleasant surprises, pet peeves, or discoveries. I bet they're interesting.
